2nd Gen. Rear Fog Light Retrofits

Posted by

In 2011, MINI did a design refresh on second generation Cars, including Cooper, Cooper S, Coupe, Roadster and Countryman. As is common with automobile manufacturers, the updates were a "world car" design, meaning that the new parts (bumper covers, lights and trim) were compatible for cars sold in Europe, Asia, and the US. This meant that they had to make the parts comply with a number of different countries' regulations. One feature that was included in all of the updates was a rear fog light set, which is used in EU market cars. This meant that the US market cars also had the fog lights installed, but no toggle switch or computer software to control the lights.

We have recently started retrofitting US cars with the hardware and software to activate your rear fog lights. It's actually a pretty quick process: we remove your toggle switch bank, install a new switch and then code your car to recognize the new setup. It's also pretty cheap: just over $60 parts, labor and tax.

As of right now, you have to come to our Helix Motorsports World Headquarters to get the modifications done, but we're pleased to announce that we'll be running a special on this modification at this year's MINIs on the Dragon. If you're planning on attending the dragon this year and are interested in having us do the Rear Fog Light Retrofit mod, drop us a line and we'll set you up for an installation.

If you proudly have major OCD, we can also provide a completely new toggle panel so that you get the rear fog light icon. For more information, please don't hesitate to call us at 267 335 4337, or send us an email at sales@helix13.com.
